I've loved this series over the past few years and it has been increasing in popularity. However the format of it has completely changed. It is trying to be too much like the x-factor, showing the contestents family life and playing on people's emotions. In the past the emotion has been genuine and now it just seems contrived and forced. I really don't like the way it is going, what next getting people to phone in to vote for their favourite foods.

the whole cooking phenomenon has been amazing and a lot of fun.

Needless to say it's swept Oz as well but I'm tiring of it now even though I really liked the shows at the beginning.

I assume the latest in UK are the same..one with ex-young cons all vying fro a place in the kitchen. I'm finding it in slight bad taste (forgive the pun)

The last Masterchef with kids was hugely amusing..12 year olds unthusing over the quality of the escalope de poulet or quibbling over the consistency of merengue de Ruse ( Pavlova to you plebs)

They would give JK a run for his money.

I was actually in an award winning Thai restaurant last night where the chef is due to appear on Matserchef and I asked the owner if it meant more business...he said no, just more criticism from customers who expected more.
