I think you are right Robbiex-there is and was far more abuse in homes than we ever imagined.

But that is physical, mental and by neglect as well as sexual but the media is a disgrace in this matter-concentrating on sexual because it's far more sensational and sells newspapers (that is sick in itself)

I tend to agree with you Veritas - but also believe that this (care home abuse) was in the past, and that the pendulum has now swung too far the opposite way.

I wonder how many people these days would run a mile rather than volunteer in case their motives were questioned ?

Just watched a docu here in Oz about the nearly 200,000 British kids shipped out in the 40s to 70s and lied to (many even told their parents were dead or didn't want them).

Used as cheap labour or sex toys although some say there were priests and nuns who were so kind they think they must have been saints.

One I personally know-said all this to me..that he cherished his memories in a kids home out West after being sent from the UK..made great friends..the priests were wonderful to him..sent them on holidays to the coast and so on.

Next thing I hear 5 years ago he's joined a group for compensation against the Catholic Church..when I challenged him on his former stories to me he basically said "so what..may as well grab the cash while I can and the priest was guilty even if he didn't touch me..I helped build the bloody place and they owe me etc etc "..justified everything in his own mind
JK2006 I intend to watch it on iPlayer but I can assure you Robbie, unlike those who believe every false allegation is true, most of us are well aware there is real abuse out there; we just want to draw attention to the fact that there are some liars, some genuinely deluded or mistaken and some who exaggerate or inflate with hindsight - and those damage the truly abused.
