There's an excellent article in the Guardian today:
"Just as the European powers built their empires in the name of Christian civilisation, modern liberal imperialism flies the banner of human rights. Nicolas Sarkozy has hailed the new drive for western intervention triggered by the Libyan uprising as offering a new model of "world governance" based on the "responsibility to protect". So long as it remains a pretext for the same powers that have dominated and divided the world selectively to enforce their will, it will deliver neither protection nor rights - but only reinforce the imperial legacy."
Even though it's undoubtedly illegal I actually would condone going in and taking out some awful dictator on the grounds that saving innocent's lives is a moral and right thing to do.
But we don't do that do we ?...we selectively choose who to attack purely on financial grounds rather than humanitarian.
Libya is clearly a civil war and we are actually the cause of it..arming Ghaddaffi.
As a race we are clearly a violent and unpredictable species. We allow the vilest of businesses to grow to heights were they forge policy- the weapon's industry.
And you wonder why intergallactic visitors skirt over us in flying saucers...certainly not going to step into the viper's nest !

No more of that "protecting innocent civilians" rubbish; quite blatant "change regime" strategy; "we are trying to bomb Gaddafi tanks and forces".
A disgrace and quite illegal on every level; whilst ignoring the fact that Gaddafi is winning by miles - and quite right too; the rebels are clearly useless. Worthy, brave, right - quite possibly decent but nonetheless useless. But let's be honest - NATO is now a war machine; taking sides; supporting one side against the other.
