That really hasn't stopped many people making it in sitcoms.
Well...it's stopped most people when it comes to great sitcoms. Kenny was at home in very brief sketches, with the crew laughing rather self-consciously. I think he found his best format for TV and made the most of it. But on radio he was a true genius.
I agree..I couldn't get out of bed and get to work without listening to Kenny when he was on morning radio..he got me laughing and out of the fog of a hangover so many times !!
never took to him on TV and I'm afraid that after he supported Maggie so openly it just turned me of him. I think that was also a bad career move. |

Just found out that Michael McIntyre's father was Ray Cameron, who co-wrote a lot of Kenny's stuff with Barry Cryer!
Found this quote from the Liverpool Echo:
“Working with Kenny was one of the happiest times,” Barry tells me from his ‘office’ (in reality his bedroom) at home.
“He was the only non-comedian I ever wrote for. He wasn’t a comedian - it was Kenny Everett. He was a one-off, and that was just a joy.
“And do you know who I wrote those shows with? A man called Ray Cameron, no longer with us sadly, who is the father of Mike McIntyre. |

He was brilliant - but he was no actor. |
