veritas I think JK (correct me if I'm wrong) is really commenting on yet another meejah generated controversy about Clarke who was obviously trying to generate a much needed debate on prisons but ignited another rediculous diversion that really proved that when the newspaper editors say 'jump' the pollies all leap in unison.
The Fat Controller Not a slippery slope veritas...fundamentally flawed, and flying straight in the face of what British law is supposed to represent...justice. We now have a system which no longer stands for any of the values it was designed to uphold. And the only person I can see shouting about this is Jonathan King.
veritas I still believe the concept of plead guilty for a reduced sentence is a slippery slope.
JK2006 Nice to see virtually every correspondent agrees that Ken Clarke was right and the rabid, barmy media response dead wrong.
