veritas anything Bennett writes is superb.

He has the capacity to make you see the bizarre in the ordinary and the absurdity in the inane.
JK2006 I've betrayed my friend Stephen Fry by listening to a second audio book and it's NOT by him (though Moab is poised for play).

Alan Bennett's Smut is an absolute joy; brilliant; perhaps his best ever. Isn't it great when someone gets better and better? I remember him as one of Beyond The Fringe - got to know him in the 60s when he was in 40 Years On - he supported me in print during that minor trouble 10 years ago but none of that counts - it's the quality of the work that speaks for itself.
