If thats the best, I won't bother looking at the 126 pages of jokes.

I found the public display of grief rather pathetic. Most had never met her, been to any of her gigs or bought any of her records. The term "Ambulance chaser's" springs to mind.

that's a fair comment on most of 'celebrity' today where we revel in every aspect of a person's life and Diana's death was the epitome.

The person in case really is caught up in a whirlwind not of they're own making.

I take the view that some people only pop into this plane of existence for a short time..Amy brought some joy with her...well for me at least and I guess many others.
Jonathan King's Crystal Balls Harsh words from someone who comes across as harsh in general. I think this is a different situation from Princess Di for example, as Amy did bear herself in her lyrics. I can understand why people can find an attachment to her because of this. But those without empathy are hardly going to express themselves in a sensitive manner.

It's predictable that quite a lot of people have said that her death was predictable. Totally ridiculous. I know many functioning alcoholics and junkies. 27 is an awfully young age to die.

This is the factor that's rankled with me in most of the coverage of this horribly sad death - her being hailed as a "genius" on the back of a "legacy" of 30-odd songs. Lovely singer, witty lyricist, great look, but this is about promise unfulfilled, not about "genius". RIP.

Don't get me wrong - Amy was a genius combination of Billie Holiday & Helen Shapiro, true soul. However, she still isn't fit to shine the shoes of the "27 Club" legends that I have mentioned as her work rate - and thus legacy - is as slim as she was. You would go a long way to finding a more fucked-up drug addled artiste than her apparent inspiration Lady Day and yet even she kept on recording great work until she was at deaths door. What should be is an eternal warning is that in these days of generic soundalikes, even the truly unique and charismatic will fall by the wayside if they surround themselves on a daily basis with Nathan Barley-esque parasites and professional junkies.
