JK2006 I could live on 15% interest; it was what I saved for.
robbiex You have to remember that we had 15% interest rate under Major. A disaster for the vast majority of us mortgage holders, but great for savers.
Prunella Minge Ex-leaders often sound much better once the pressure is off and they can speak their mind. Even Nixon ended up sounding quite sensible about global politics. The problem with Major was that he couldn't control his cabinet, and was terrified of the media, so he'd be hopeless in the current situation (but good sitting on a sofa having a relaxed chat before lunch somewhere nice).
