The Fat Controller Carry ons were masterpieces. I believe Kenny Williams was secretly proud of them. But we do tend to snigger at sex. I'm not sure it was ever designed for sniggering at. Unless you saw my naked body of course. Not that that would induce sniggering...more screams of complete terror!

Marat/Sade is set in a lunatic asylum, where the Marquis de Sade is directing a play about the murder of political thinker Jean Paul Marat.

Up to 80 theatregoers left at the interval...it might just be a rotten play? But of course we can't handle sex. It's either perverse, nudge nudge wink wink, under the counter, or double entendre in the saucy seaside carry on fashion.

Marquis de sade? Forget it.

I might book a seat.

you know I actually preferred when British sex was nudge nudge wink wink and all under the table (although of course the population was at it like rabbits)

In fact during a lean period I did very nicely thank you by driving a few working ladies to and from their jobs, sticking up their card in phone boxes and newsagents around Bayswater etc and so on..kept me alive for nearly a year !(and very fit)

I reckon the brilliant British tradition (never heard it anywhere else on earth) for the double entendre is a direct result of that secret seamy side. Look at the Carry On films..total masterpieces !

And of course the media kept us amused constantly until the Dirty Digger entered and took it to sewer level.
