How long - motorway?

I plan to visit Biarritz this summer.

Not sure why you need to know what the roads are like in Spain, but the trip down through France is delightful. From Calais, you travel through Arras, around Paris, through Orleans, Blois (on the River Loire), Tours, Poitiers and Bordeaux. (According to Google it’s just over 1,00 KM, Calais to Biarritz, so a nice 2 to 3 day trip if you don't want to rush it!). Stopping off and staying at the superb value Ibis hotels make this a wonderful inexpensive trip. I was in Biarritz a couple of years ago and for superb location and value I recommend the Mercure Centre Plaza. It's right across the road from the Casino and overlooks the beach. Great value.
Innocent Accused Spain has different types of road,I normally avoid the tolls there and go on the 'autovias'.France however is best on the paid roads. You can of course vary the routes considerably.

I flew into Malaga, then picked up my car at the airport..£110 for 29 days! Not a bad internet bargain, one I've used a few times.

Going back this time I went via Valencia, some of it on 'national routes'.Slower, but as it was at night not a problem. From there on to Zaragoza,Lleida, then stayed the night at Puigcerda in the Pyrennes.
Andorra on the French side was getting bad (-15),the Spanish side was fine.I had to detour to Perpignan, then all the way to Paris on the toll road. The motorway from Paris to Calais was ok,but may well have suffered snow on sunday morning,as there was a few inches of the stuff in Calais when i awoke.Should have cleared by now.

Inland Spain was very cold, often below zero, even the Costa del Sol went a bit chilly my last day.
Going back to Gib on the 16th,so hope this weather has improved.I'll be back in Calais tomorrow afternoon for a few hours, will let you know if it's bad.
