I know what you mean, but just a thought .... without that bit, what contribution would the rest of the Beach Boys have made ?! By this time Brian had stopped touring and stayed in LA to make the tracks, and Carl sings lead vocals. In fact, another Pet Sounds track, "Caroline, No" was issued (in the USA) as a Brian Wilson solo single.
