Key words "over the past 6 weeks"

Going back to IA's stats - the same stats show a virtually continuous Tory lead from early 2007, apart from a few minor blips in the last few weeks.

That's not actully true. Until Cameron's temporary rise after his EU veto, Labour had regularly been showing leads of bewteen 4-6 points for much of the second part of last year.

You're right that there are many ways of looking at statistics, and that is one reason why I like ukpollingreport. It encourages those who commentto rise above the politics of 'my party is in the lead so I am right', and chief commentator Anthony Wells, altho from YouGov himelf, also probes much further into the questions behind the questions, and the methodologies of the different polling organisations concerned.

I have no party political point to make here, I just thought the ukpollingreport site and its analyses might make an interesting read for posters here.

Over the past 6 weeks or so UK Polling Report have shown a consistent Labour lead of around 1- 2% in their poll of polls. These include both Labour and Tory leads depending on the latest poll, but the aggregate is still (just) remaining in Labour's favour.

Tonight's IPSOS/MORI poll shows a much larger 6-point Labour lead, but what I always like about UK Polling Report is that it is balanced and points out that such results may well be outliers bucking the trend.

And, as the Government is TWO parties, is it not also true that the combined poll ratings of both the Tories and LibDems - in both your and IA's stats - ALWAYS exceed loony Labour ?

You can look at stats in many ways, david.

This Government needs to be out.

According to Cameron's poll rating very few agree with you !
They can see that this government is doing SOMETHING to sort out Labour's (constant) problems.

Constantly chucking money at people who will not get out of bed is NOT the answer (we've done that already, by investing 50K+ in their education so far).
