Winning is a part of taking part .. it's a way of showing how each person is progressing. Competition without goal is pointless.

I get my exams results soon, and my grades are important to me. Without grades it will be near impossible for future employer to assess my ability. It's the same with any field be it sport or anything else.

Everyone in the Olympics has devoted years of hard work and dedication and they deserve to have their efforts rewarded.
Hedda Hopper It's only for 2 weeks! Enjoy it while you can.

you'll be paying for ot for decades.

Yes - have you decided to take over being Olympics misery guts from ITK on holiday, Robbie?

Those of us who thoroughly approve of the positive and joyous nature of the Games and want as many Golds as possible, are cheering on Brits and others (Bolt again today please).

And some of us - most of us - disagree with ITK's narrow view of the paralympics and believe the Games is for people of all types, shapes and abilities doing their utmost. That achievement is what the Olympics are about. Pushing yourself to the limit - whatever that limit may be.

I am enjoying the olympics, I'm just saying that it isn't just about team GB winning, I guess that a lot of the winning of gold is down to massive investment from the government for elite sportsmen, money that could be better spent elsewhere in the current economic crisis.
I have enjoyed seeing things like the first woman Saudi Athlete, Usain Bolt, and the fun Beach Volleyball. Remember it is all about the taking part and not the winning.

Foz Stop being so miserable. It's only a few weeks of self-indulgence then, once it's over, it will be tomorrow's chip wrapper. You can go back to reading about your Euro crisis/Syria unrest/massive debt news and revel in deep gloom.
