Hedda	I'm trying to get a copy. I hope McAlpine sues every bastard that has jumped on this bandwagon. He really has a duty to. The media have crossed the line. They are a uncontrollable rabble. note that in his excellent statement he still has to pay homage to this creep who has caused all this. I don't care if he's been abused..we've all been through hard times. That doesn't give him the right to recklessly set out to destroy other people's lives. There seems to be a notion here that hundreds of allegations can be made and it's perfectly OK that half of them may be false just because some are genuine.

Just as the VAST MAJORITY of sexual abuse happens within families (and NOT with the gay guy who lives down the road !!!!
JK2006	Interesting watching the breaking news as Lord McAlpine denies all of the absurd false allegations - the news organisations so HATE having to actually say "these accusers may be lying" or even "mistaken" that they try and fudge the "identity of the real abuser". Read the book, guys. There may very well NOT HAVE BEEN real abusers. I say "may very well not" as it's as hard to prove a negative as a positive. Richard Webster does not, repeat NOT, say there was no abuse anywhere. But he does cast real doubt on the stories. As, to their credit (though I worry it's through fear of libel more than finding the truth) does The Guardian. Read the piece; it very clearly comes down on the side that this DID NOT HAPPEN. Even now the news channels refer to the claimed accuser as a "victim". NOT PROVEN.

The media are appalling allowing this innuendo to get legs and giving credence to some dill who is loving his 15 minutes. Cameron really is too wet. I'm sure he is horrified by this witch hunt but he's jumped too quickly and pandered to tabloid tosh. Tom Watson has unraveled all the good work he did previously by buying into this charade.
