We have a choice which newspapers we buy and if we listen to any of the myriad of dreadful, local, commercial stations that blight the UK's radio spectrum and bandwidth or if we watch commercial TV but most of us are obliged to buy a TV license even if we consume live telly via our mobile phone or netbook or pad.
That the standards of checking facts at the BBC seems to be so useless is a scandal. We all pay for them to get things right and be the best. WHY was Newsnight unable to do what the likes of Anna Raccoon have done and prove Williams-Thomas ITV programme proved nothing and was probably garbage?
Newspapers are having problems competing with some brilliant bloggers giving away their writing. The music industry is suffering from many people dealing direct with the acts they like. The fact that King of Hits and Anna Raccoon et al are the places I choose to get much of my opinion and comment along with Russia Today's and Press TV's web sites bodes ominously for the UK media as a whole.
If journalists at the BBC are less competent than bloggers working for free, are they journalists at all? What ARE we paying them for?
One could also ask why "record companies" pay executives who seem incapable of commissioning any new music that doesn't drive consumers of music into the arms of acts selling their stuff online? Why haven't I bought anything produced by a record company for years? Why is what I buy invariably direct from unsigned acts? Is it me or should I be running out now to buy "Rod Stewart Sings The Great American Songbook Vol. Xll" (released just in time for Christmas as usual every year ... maybe they stopped that a few years ago ... I turned off a while ago).
I think we have some interesting times and changes ahead. |

Isn't just quite amazing that the media, would rather concentrate on a dead bloke, rather than try to find truth in many other goings on, in likely places, that are much closer to home!
And then there always seems to be a Wales connection...Thinking Merion Jones? Is his time coming? |

Right-on Bro/Sis, precisely wot we've bin a-sayin for many a year now.
Since around the 19Hateys Fraud Market ongoing, unchecked for greed, ratings, profit by prurient not public interest.
Ms Racoon proves that anyone can be a good reporter-not-distorter, and for far less than c. £1 mill p.a. tax-avoided.

Of course but WHY is someone like her, who in theory isn't even a journalist apparently asking more pertinent questions than the entire British media put together?
Maybe I should get a job with the BBC on the basis I would have shown Steve Meecham a picture of Lord McAlpine and asked "is this the bloke?"
Couldn't anyone with a bit of common sense do that job?
It also makes you wonder how much of everything we get from the British media, including now, unfortunately, the BBC, has been checked and has any truth in it whatsoever.
..... come to think of it ... your Brit Award shows were probably more accurate than most of what Newsnight has put out .... an awful shame. The BBC can be the best on the plant at times but its credibility is getting a right kicking and abroad is now seen in the same light as CNN, CNBC, Al Jazeera .. I know lots of people who think Press TV and Russia Today have more credibility and these outlets tend to comment on what the UN is trying to do about topics like Syria whilst the BBC never mentions the UN and concentrates on what Hague, Hollande and Clinton. People who still believe in the UN will go to the media outlets that cover it well.
Press TV doesn't interrupt live broadcasts from the UN as the BBC does whenever someone with which the UK is not aligned starts speaking. |
