JK2006 Last week (I was out at lunch) our entire block (in fact several blocks) had a massive power cut for several hours.

As luck would have it, literally the day before my alarm people had done their regular six month check and installed a brand new battery (which takes over in case of power cut). They lose efficacy every few years. The test worked perfectly.
