I got bored during all the other Hobbit films. Is this in 3D ?..I might like that. |

Not read the book but saw 'The Life of Pi 3D' last night. Really enjoyed it. Not usually a particular fan of 3D and in the more subtle scenes here (such as family dinner time) it actually distracted from the emotion/drama. However the scenes of animals were awesome and one scene included the greatest use of 3D technology that I have seen.
I'd have preferred the film to play as a single story, chronological order, rather than have Rafe Spall as a journalist type interviewing "Pi" as start/end and as a few interruptions throughout. But it's a small gripe. |

A trilogy with added Frodo and Saruman and all the LOTR characters. A running time of just under three hours. The Hobbit should be done and dusted in three hours!! |

I re-read The Hobbit a few years ago for the kids and was struck by how light it is (compared to my early teen memories of it).
But I'm also worried about inflating it to 3 long movies. Is there really enough story in there?
One of the problems that Jackson has is that so many films copied the tone of the books even before the film version came out. I watched an episode of "Game of Thrones" and loved it as well. So the wannabes have the lead on the original. |

I'm nervous about this. I adored the book which I read when it was first published; grabbed Lord of the Rings with delight and slowly went off it as it grew too long, too self indulgent, too pretentious and basically crap.
Likewise the film trilogy. What was all the fuss about?
So I look forward to the film of The Hobbit because it was such a great, short story; with no intellectual fat on it.
Now I hear Peter Jackson has turned it into a trilogy.
Oh dear.
I was longing to see it (and Life Of Pi - another favourite book). Now I'm nervous. |
