I didn't enjoy it. After an excellent first 3 minutes it quickly became a confused mess with the joke Sontaran and meandering plot.

I'm sure the hilarious double act between the Dr and the forgetful Sontaran had all the 5 yr olds in stitches

It doesn't compare to the original series in my humble opinion. So, I prefer the 60s & 70s stories.
I'd never say it was ever for kids, though. It never was. Just a family aimed show.
If I had to pick a favourite Science Fiction series, it wouldn't even be the 60s & 70s series either.
I'd plump for something that was less fantasizing. Like "The Incredible Hulk" with Bill Bixby or "The Invaders". Something with a possibility. Tapping into the hidden strengths of Gamma Radiation & people from out of space, that looked just like us. It would be nice to think that "The Invisible Man" a la David McCallum could be a possibility too...but I doubt it.
