Topic History of: The Guardian coverage of the Savile report...

hedda Anna Raccoon posted the story of the boy beaten to death by his mother..and I, the tale of the man beaten to death in Australia after he was falsely accused of being a child abuser.

For the media-the hideous death of a child is not as sensational as a sex tale involving a child...and the hysteria about child abuse (with the concentration on sex) is used to falsely accuse an innocent man and cause his death.

The Yewtree Report is a travesty..filled with myths and inaccuracies yet has been blindly accepted in every aspect. It is full of holes. It quotes liars who have been exposed.
That is diabolical for any who may be telling the truth.

I have nil idea of what Savile got up to and the way the media and the police have handled the matter..no-one ever will.

And you are free to believe whatever you want but I am not going to accept guilt because tabloids tell me too or because not believing it brings condemnation (which it does)

And as we saw with Hillsborough, Britain's police have no qualms in falsely accusing an entire city.
JK2006 And you're quite entitled to feel that and to contribute to the debate BB.

I think MOST people would feel Savile was guilty. After the incredible reaction and coverage in the media, who wouldn't?

If you believe in the accuracy of the media. Hey, there have even been people convicted in a court of law condemned by media, police and judges who continue to protest they were innocent - and who in their right minds would believe them?

It makes far more sense to believe in the probity, honesty and intentions of our structured establishment. Most do. Some don't (Hillsborough; Bryn Estyn: Plebgate...) and we carry opinions from both extremes as well as those (like myself) somewhere in the middle.

these boards are not a chorus line of agreement

Dear Hedda

Thank you for taking the time to suggest I continue to contribute to the Jimmy Savile debate. Unfortunately I believe that on this board the case of Jimmy Savile it is closer to the thing you claim it isn't "a chorus line of agreement". I entered the discussion only to say I believed Savile was guilty and didn't put forward any agreement of the way the investigation was conducted or the way the media has reacted. I have previously stated and still believe that there have probably been false and exaggerated claims but as a "reasonable man" given access to the information available in the media and from this board I believe Savile broke the law many times over many years. Though I haven't said it before I am not surprised that the story has had significant coverage given he had a knighthood was a media personality over many decades and the follow up story included the BBC director general resigning after 54 days.

Based on me posting my view that Savile was guilty you then post a new topic called "One for Blue Boy" that details a case of a man is tortured and beaten to death with an iron bar because a woman falsely claims he has molested children and recalls a case of a woman in Britain who beat her tiny son to death with a hammer and then burnt his body but it rates few lines in the media compared with Jimmy Savile's crimes. How did you expect me to react to that thread?

Nobody on this board can know what Savile did or didn't do but we can all have opinions and my opinion is that he broke the law.

I think you are right and the attention it brings is uncomfortable so it's probably best I just ignore the Savile threads in future.

no you should indulge in hearty discussion.

these boards are not a chorus line of agreement..the more diverse views heard the more the truth may emerge.

(just don't bother discussing employment policy with ITK as he the poor petal is still in kindergarten on that one)

Very good Chris. I agree on every word. It's a shame the public hypnotised by the media, just can not see. Would they also believe classic Sunday Sport stories like "Aliens Mowed My Lawn" & "Aliens Took Me Out Of My Bed To Another Planet" & not forgetting this Sunday's Express story "Jimmy Savile Was a Satanist".
