I believe "The Dark Age" started when Diana pegged it - Tony directed "The National Grief" and I felt suffocated by the stupendous falseness of it all. Similar feelings 4 years later when they Yanks demolished their Twin Towers (my honest reaction to someone telling at work that afternoon was a shrug of the shoulders and a sigh of "oh well, it will be a blockbuster movie in a year or two" which was met with astonishment by the room full of Headless Chickens, and now the most stupid & risible scam yet - Savilegate and Operation YouToo.
15 years down the line from Diana, we've bred a nation who have no idea what it to 'feel' without being directed on what to do, say and behave, and who nullify their empty lives with meaningless games and uber-hedonism, the rot is creeping both ways and affecting the nation as a whole. |

It all started going downhill in 1997 ..... I wonder why ? |

I never thought I'd reach this day but I am sooo enjoying being an oldie, an OAP, past it, beyond it and coasting towards the final exit, bus pass possessor and so on.
We had the best of times..emerging from the dreary, oh so dreary 1950s into the exciting 60s...the 70.., 80s and even the 90s were fun.
But it's all been downhill since the year 2000. Perhaps 9/11 was the beginning of a new Dark Age when all reasoning went out the window and new Modern Middle Ages era of superstition, gossip, scandal, witch-hunts and mass madness and hysteria and fear of science took hold of the masses , as evidenced by the media which reflects their state of mind.
The so-called report on Jimmy Savile, a compilation of lies and damned statistics (and some probably true) is the final nail in civilisation : it's a triumph of inanity and absurdity : where the police have become judge and jury upon a list of claims and the media, the politicians have accepted it without a whimper.
Not realising what it means for the future.
And who could blame those coppers ? : they too risk being crucified if they strayed from the required condemnation the media demands. Imagine if just one said :"I think some claims are true and wicked but there seems to be a lot of exageration, if not outright falsehoods !". He /she too would be as finished as Freddie Starr's career.
Amazingly I even agree with Esther Rantzen : a host of people have been arrested by the same cops who produced a list of claims and which they use to judge and convict a dead man..ney even say they know the inner thinkings of his mind.
Heaven help Davidson, Glitter, Clifford etc...they risk being torn from limb to limb.
As will many others over the coming decades. |
