Marriage was for empire-building, Hedda ... love rarely entered into it.

If you wanted a quick shag there were plenty of housemaids and stable lads for that.

If it is presented to the children as normal, then it becomes normal.

And what about all the other kids ..... Will they see it as normal?

It wasn't long ago that it was considered outrageous to have an illegitimate child and now it is fashionable. .

In your household maybe .... But amongst people who have something (land, property etc) - try inheriting as a bastard !

yet the reason Barack Obama changed his mind on gay marriage was because his kids go to school with other kids who have gay or lesbian parents and they simply cannot understand what all the fuss is about.

Children 'learn' to hate and see others as 'different'.

this is all about British ghastly Puritan style thinking that has also infected their former colonies like NZ,USA and Oz.

Yet as they dig up my dear long time missing Uncle Dickie we should learn that wacky family situations are actually the norm...ie do you think the peasants were all running off to a lovely church wedding or just shacking up with each other?

Not in our house. We have a traditional family set up but
I dont mind what other people do

I thought the illegitimacy laws had been updated recently to accommodate "the wrong side of the blanket" or did i imagine that? There is no shortage of long lost children of celebrities coming forward as soon as the coffin slams shut!

JK2006 Yes surely all that matters is that children have great parents - who cares about gender, age, skin colour or even, dare I whisper, religion.
