20% tax on savers with deposits over 100,000 euros at the country's largest bank, the Bank of Cyprus.

4% tax on deposits over 100,000 euros will be levied at other banks

Incorrect; the levy/tax will be the same for all banks

And so it was.

One wonders why people post gossip/what they read/think - and don't just try and fathom/investigate why such rate variances are/were so implausable .....

Or do people just get up in the morning and simply post about something they've seen on the news?

hedda life is generally far more complicated and complex than dear ITK can contemplate...given he gets his info by prowling council estates and peeping through windows.

however here is another take on the Cyprus drama:
Cyprus bank crisis an elegant tax haven punishment

less ITK thinks Rundle is an old lefty..which he is...Guardian left Nick Davies threw a drink in his face at book launch recently.

Your own BBC link quotes the deposit levy at 'around 30%' - says a Cyprus goverment spokesperson.

Do you still think your figures are correct?

If you look at the link - and stop being so pedantic - you will see it has been UPDATED today at 12:58 .... LONG AFTER I originally posted.

I thought you would have been intelligent enough to work that out.
