Or the invention of the vinyl record facilitated the job of the DJ on pirate radio? Mobile devises do a multitude of things, the internet is just (one of) the content delivery systems.

A good example of 'specially for the web' is the recent/excellent House of Cards political drama series - with Kevin Spacey, based in Washington. This is made by Netflix and available there, and on streaming sites.
