The Fat Controller I think it brought out the best in Jonathan King. Discuss. Vile Pervert, Mary My Love...just two examples. Van Gogh's greatest works he wrought through some of his toughest times...I've never been to prison but I do know some of my best poetry came on the back of hard times in my life.

Imagine if we all went through life without any trauma? I very much doubt such people would understand anything much at all...least of all stare up from a cage and paint pictures in the stars.

Charlie Bronson as another example...truly terrific artist...imprisoned for 'mistakes' in his youth. He's now 58 and still inside.

He even calls himself a 'bastard'.
