JK2006 If true we must hope they don't allow this - it's a bit like Simon and his X Factor entrants (they changed that a few years ago, allowing acts signed to other labels).
DJones Apparently the UMG is trying to get even better terms from the European Broacasting Union (EBU):

Under the old contract UMG had the right to issue a compilation with the songs of all countries. In the future the biggest global music label wants to shut out lokal/national labels completely: If the EBU accepts the new clauses all rights to the recordings of the songs will be controlled/owned by UMG.
