NCS I didn't mind him on Radio One. However, he went more than a bit overboard with motor racing news and information during his R1 breakfast show.

He was also involved in a particularly abrasive session on and off-air on TV with Rob Dickens, IIRC.
robbiex he was part of my generation growing up with radio 1 and top of the pops.
I chirpy and likeable fellow and he and the lovely Sarah Greene seemed perfect for each other. My heart goes out to Sarah this evening.
It seems that tragedy has followed many ex-radio 1 and totp presenters, if its not Yewtree, its the grim reaper.
JK2006 I was never a fan - either of his work or him personally - but that's very young (being 69 myself!). And I admired his bravery standing up for the BBC a few months ago.
dixie Very sorry to hear about the death of ex-BBC radio 1 DJ Mike Smith. I never met him but he seemed a very decent sort. Condolences to his wife Sarah Greene.
