Chrissie I so agree. I was listening this morning and had to change channels, he was irritating me so much. There's a sneer about most music and musicians he plays. I know he's known for his irreverence but it doesn't work for me on the radio. On TV there's a charm there, however faked it might be, but on radio I don't get the sense he likes anything much. I bet after every guest departs he slags them off to his producer. Surely he doesn't need the money to do this gig?
Artie Fufkin There's that quality in camp that veers close to simple insincerity, and that puts me off Norton. He's a great TV host but on radio you hear him basically sneer, albeit quite engagingly, at just about everything and everyone, and it makes me wonder what he really likes and cares about. Music? I doubt he has much interest in it at all.
JK2006 He's reached that stage (many do) when his producer doesn't dare tell him but he thinks he is so naturally entertaining that he simply rambles on with camp rubbish without stopping to think "oh my god if I was 20 years younger and heard myself now I'd be mortified".
