DJ Jones, I was being sarcastic. of course they're not going to develop anything. Your post hits it on the head...... and Yes JK isn't it interesting when a namesake of a once great label group is used again, for reasons that have nothing to do with what made the name great in the first place! |

This move by CBS has nothing to do with developing artists, A&R and other things formerly important in the music industry. It's only about getting a higher share of the money made of TV/Music tieins like castings shows.
"CBS is betting that it can exploit the weakness in the music industry by signing recording artists who are hungry for support and promotion. CBS could benefit from an additional revenue stream and by reducing the money it spends to license songs for its TV shows."

Funnily enough, often the ethos of a label name remains despite change of ownership, personell etc.
Decca was always the same even when it simply became a classical logo.
Likewise the feeling of London.
I like to think the spirit of UK Records will last forever, even though (sadly) the founder won't! |

Love your headline there GG, will "EMI to launch label" be next? Only joking.
The key word is "developement" by a major company of acts over a time period and that is the future of music, will the new CBS be doing this? |

More of the same or not???? Does anyone really think they will develop anything???
Jimmy Iovine..."Put Moe from the 3 stooges on TRL for 3 weeks and he would have a platinum album"
Not a innovative bone in Les Moonves' body, at least as far as jumping on this bandwagon
Thoughts???? |
