JK2006 For me, the difference between the equally inventive and original music coming out of the UK and the USA is fascinating. Yes, we had The Beatles and the influence of the Mersey sounds but there was also the American West Coast sound (Johnny Rivers, Mamas and Papas, both featured this week) as well as the superb Buddy Holly, Gene Pitney, Roy Orbison music and the Brill Building songs from the likes of Goffin and King, Mann and Weill and Greenwich and Barry. The 60s was truly a musical goldmine of a decade.
