Andy I like Ian Hunter's comment about Buffin's drumming:

"He not only played to the song - he played to the lyric"

JK2006 And ironic - Bowie and Mott; so closely linked.
dixie This is very sad.

As a life-long Mott The Hoople Fan, I saw him many times, with Mott The Hoople, Mott and British Lions. He played just for the encores at every night of the five 2009 sell-out Hammersmith Odeon (Apollo) shows. He was ill then.

Actually, it's quite sad that he was one of the instigators of the Mott The Hoople Reunion shows - getting all the original members of the band back on stage 35 years after they split-up - only to end up being too ill to play the shows.

If you want to experience just one song by Mott The Hoople, listen to the Journey. Bear in mind it was recorded many years before Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody!

Andy Dale Griffin aka "Buffin" - drummer with Mott The Hoople, Mott & the British Lions, as well as producer of a large number of BBC sessions has died.
