Thank you Mag; the contrast between the angry lyrics and the sweet poppy music is intentional. At very least different, I hope! |

Written as an OC 3 years younger than yourself.
I heard Vile Perverts on Spotify, just wanting to compare your version of Moon to Nina Simone's weird, but not very wonderful version! I hope you are getting royalties on that!
VP, quite apart from the obvious importance of the subject matter to you, is in a totally different league, especially the lyrics, to anything which went before. You should have done a George Michael and moved away from Bubblegum, however well you actually did that, some time in the late 70s.
Then again, maybe you needed the rage to bring out the ability to marry excellent lyrics to the music.
If you don't already know it, you should listen to the very best rage based album of all time. Franco was the very best African musician ever, as well as the best French language musician (better even than Johnny Halliday, shock horror.) Attention na SIDA is his rant against AIDS when he was dying from it. ANS parts 1 and 2 are in French and lyrically and musically brilliant. The rest is in Lingala - maybe Peter Gabriel can help you with the translation!
If you do listen to it, you will realise that you missed a trick in VP. Rage based music should always reference Sodom and Gomorrah! |
