robbiex Saw this musical in Cardiff, great performance from the wonderfull Sheridan Smith, however it does confirm to me what I have thought for years. Musicals are shite. This one basicall has one good song in it "Don't rain on my parade". Which is played twice to pad out the time. Grease and the Sound of Music are obvious exceptions to this, been packed full of hits. Modern musicals are particularly bad, when was the last time a hit came from a musical. "No matter what" from "Whistle down the wind" in the 90s. Wicked has virtually no catchy tunes, ditto The Girls, Cats, Les Mis. Charlie and the Chocolate factory is another exception, mainly because it has such a great story and great set pieces, and there aren't too many songs in it.
