Topic History of: After Guantanamo Bay last night... can't they see they are behaving like the Gestapo treated the Jews?

Michael One of the CIA heads was talking about his pursuit of Bin Laden and said something like "now the gloves have come off". Doesn't the expression sound sinister, and isn't it even creepier when you look at the long list of abuses since then?

For my part, the tragedy of 9/11 has been pretty much outstripped by the tragedy of what the US has become since then (plus the civilian head count in Iraq and the mayhem that is growing in the Middle East).

It was clear there were never going to be easy solutions to Al-Qaida, so it's kind of easy to stand back and complain about those in power. But what a ghastly mess this has been.

Hang on, shouldn't this be in the other MB?
JK2006 Is it happening to me?
I see decent Americans turning into the SS - don't they notice?
I see the media adopting the standard "abused wife or child" performances... can't they see the similarities in the tears?
I watch the punters fall for the Band Aid/Live Aid "charity pronouncements" and ignore the realities of just as much pain and poverty as ever.
I see compassion fatigue set in as the results of "weapons of mass destruction" get worse and worse and nobody seems to care or do anything about it.
Has the media converted us all into only wanting the simplistic, one dimensional solutions and problems?
Are we now incapable of thinking in depth?
That's how humanity will end.
By blurring the details and accepting the caricatures.

In The Know Those of us whop were against the Iraq invasion from the start could see this coming - and have been totally vindicated.

The others - the gullibles who fell for everything they were told - are now so embarrassed that they dare not raise their heads .... hence there are very few challenges to what is going on.

Having "got away" with it once - they plan the very same thing against Iran (while conveniently forgetting that everything they accuse Iran of, has already been done by Israel - and is never challenged).

Is there any wonder why the Muslim world feels there are double standards ?

(** Just been reading that the Patriot Act has been renewed in the USA - it was due to expire today.

One of the things that George wanted added was that they had the right to know which books people had borrowed from libraries !

Land of the free ?)
JK2006 Incredible. Must have been exactly the way the Nazis behaved.
Don't suppose they spotted Hitler until it was too late either.
When will George grow a little toothbrush moustache and Tony shave his head and put on weight?
