square eyes pacino is the best living actor, the best british actor is derek jacobi.

the best writer is the guy who wrote vernon god little or iain banks
JK2006 John Le Carre; Gerald Seymour; Philip Pullman; JK Rowling... not Dan Brown but I must admit whilst I thought The Da Vinci Code was one of the worst written books I'd ever read, I couldn't put the damn thing down!

Actors? Well, where do we start. Ian Holm is great. Ditto Ian Richardson; And Jim Broadbent (I love Mike Leigh's ensemble) so let's chuck in Brenda and Alison and all that lot please.

Good Yanks... I've never seen Gene Hackman in a bad film and that's an incredible talent in itself. I adore Will Smith but that's a personal thing. My favourite US movie... If You Build It, They Will Come (Field Of Dreams)...

And Humph falling in love with Lauren (so was I) in To Have And Have Not...

Confused David Morrisey, Ken Stott, Philip Glenister,John Simm among the more contemporary actors plus Michael Kitchen (always a delight to watch)
Writers - Alan Bennet I have to agree with totally - most of the ones I like are dead. Will persue further. HAGWE
mickeyone Best Living Writer : James Lee Burke

Best British Actors : Brian Cox
Ken Stott
