I hate to mention the host of this board but JK's videos for his current work were quite ground breaking in this area and I see have been getting thousands and thousands of views on You Tube. |

I quite like the budget home made video ethic that has emerged, I can`t think of any excuse whatsoever for any musical act not to make one.
I think it`s a long time before we see a low budget classic, or before it is taken seriously as product, but it will still take talent and not so much of the obvious edits.
The problem with DIY videoing currently is with it being so available and cheap, people will have a "I know how they did that" view on most of it.
I still prefer a different department on the visual works as opposed to the creators of the music, it`s allways nice to have created or view a bigger picture. |

I've connected via the alternative link - it looks fine to me but not inspired!
Mind you, check out some of my videos if you want to see a real amateur at work!
LOL! It's part of the punk spirit, isn't it? Get up and do it if you can find no one else that will do it for you - and damn posterity. There's a lot to be said for it! It doesn't make for "pretty" videos, but you get the message (or vibe, if you prefer). I'd even go so far as to say that people are interested in seeing people get up and try. Don't forget the Blair Witch Project, sold on the back of the fact that it was a bunch of people that did it for a laugh (not exactly true, btw). Same for "Shawn of the Dead".
If I was a director booked to do a video for you, I'd still have you messing around like an overgrown teen and spilling things or tripping over the cables. Part of the charm of the album is the off-the-cuff feel. |

Now let me first of all define what i mean. I am not talking about the overbloated and expensive promotional music videos but the potential of a band teaming up with a media company or budding filmmaker to mutually benefit one another. The Filmmaker gets music and the artist gets content.
With now everyone establishing new shows around video clips and youtube why oh why hasn't someone in the music business cottoned on to this ?
It is television and not radio that makes huge stars in my opinion. I am talking from experience. I fell in love with bands in the 80s because i watched them on Tv while living in God's own continent (Africa lol).
The BBC killing TOTP was lunacy beyond lunacy. Ratings shouldn't come into it. The music industry must now think about getting its own dedicated music channel or is that too easy for them ?
Ps: Surprised to not hear anyone's comments on my video trailer ?
