To all those "muso-minnows" reading the figures and saying "Oh no, we`ll never chart at all now!".
Look at the bigger picture.
You might actually shift a decent whack of copies at this rate, it`s all very well people endlessly buying new(audio) equipment, but they do need new things to play on them.
And thats your job, firstly,it`s positive. |

Well yes in the really old old days (1965) I once did 60,000 in a day with Everyone's Gone To The Moon which was pretty phenomenal.
But this week's sales are a delight and show there's life in the old dog yet. |

Don't worry I well remember the real 'old' days as JK will testify (the first chart I had personal involvement in was in 1978!) but I thought it was encouraging that sales (irrespective of the product)were so strong given the current/recent declines. Any positive signs are always welcome as far as I'm concerned and thanks to Olive Oil for those figures, it makes this weeks sales look even more impressive. |

200,000 sales like the old days? Umm .. not very old days. Some of us remember when that wouldn't even get you into the top 20.
An improvement on a year ago though.
Christ, some people are negative!! The sales figures are fantastic. 10 years ago, the No.1 only sold 189k in the full week (Aqua - Barbie Girl), and 15 years ago Pato Banton's Baby Come Back was No.1 with 76,000 sales. And these are FULL WEEK SALES! |
