Very sad news. She was a very understated, modest broadcaster who was very passionate about music. She was the female John Peel, more interested in promoting new music than promoting her own career. The first female presenter on Radio 1 in 1970 and stayed there until very shortly before her death. She also presented the old grey whistle test in the 1980s. I remember listening to her show on sunday evenings in the early 30's after the chart show, where she would play some of my favourites like the Cure, Japan, Duran Duran, and New Order. She will be fondly remembered. |

My old friend from the 60s. Introduced me to Jack Tinker and inadvertently started The Rocky Horror Show - all due to Brighton. |
