I kinda prefer the unmixed Boytoy, despite the fact that it's mixed a bit wonkily (those keyboard chops: "ouch"). It features her voice better.
There's a generic "commercial music" feel to the tracks. I'd like more personality, which comes from both the lyrics and the delivery. Look at the people you cite: Grace Jones, Prince circa "Controversy" and Madonna of "Like a Virgin". Two of them - Madonna and Grace Jones - are not really all that good as singers. So your project has a headstart there! It could be argued whether remixes can bring personality. I don't really think so.
Not a bad project in its genre, although it's not what I want to listen to. |
