both of which emerged thanks to No Limits...

1) Mary's Prayer by Danny Wilson, surely one of the best tracks of the decade

2) It's My Life by Talk Talk - a fabulous track.

and a great singer (where is he today?)... Billy Ocean.

Billy Ocean has a new single coming out in a week or two's time.
DJKZ It shouldn't be an either or debate.

Man shall not live by hits alone, nor by boring serious singer/songwriter types. But a mixture of the two is keeps man outta the zoo and variety is the spice of life.

As far as Who let the dogs out, was there ever a proper carnival version because sorry JK the commercial version was absolute pants. Mind you it depends which version. Here in Australia, when Djing I played my proper English version which had a more black bass line and feel to that dreadful techno version they love here in Oz. The crowd still loved it. Gee i'm on a posting roll tonight lol.
JK2006 In defence of Who Let The Dogs Out...

This was brought to me by Keith who cuts my hair at Smile... every year he goes to Carnival (he's there now) and comes back with interesting float tunes - this was his cassette recording of the song on the float.

I loved the naughty but funny concept of the girls commenting on men who comment on girls in bars - I found it not only hugely catchy but very amusing lyrically and I do to this day. Many miss that subtle lyrical idea.

So it is more than just a catchy chant with terrific gimmicks (some of which, like the panting puppy, were my additions). And give me a global, massive, cross borders genuine monster hit over a little local song every day.
Anthony I love the Chumbawumba track to this day, but have to agree with Walter on "Who let the dogs out." I think you deserved perhaps 1 day of your prison sentence, JK, just for unleashing that song on us!
Walter Sobchak Novelty hits always add to the gaity of life and you JK have provided rather nore than your fair share. The Chumbawumba track was beyond irritating after the first 3 plays and was really an off -key pean to binge drinking. The group have gone in history not for their hit though, but for dowsing the ludicrous John Prescott at the Brits.
'Who let the dogs out' was even more frightful.A truely ghastly, shouty, insensitive piece of nonsense, routinely served up in obscene versions on today's football grounds.
"Mary's prayer" on the other hand is a glorious little gem ; On that we agree, JK. Next?
