If I recall correctly, a lot of the "Oi" bands were ant-racist. The Rock Against Racism movement was founded by punks. There are some bad eggs in the genre, like there are in everything else.

One prime is Skrewdriver, of course. Not even the independent record stores would order in Skrewdriver, even on special order; they refused point-blank. I knew someone for a while, it was a friend of a friend of a friend kind of thing, who collected punk and oi music. He was not racist; he just collected punk music, spending a fortune every month. I remember his Jamaican boyfriend, who hated reggae music but loved metal; he had a thing for my snakeskin boots. It was strange.

I don't think the festival would have been a success, but I have visions of old men in Doc Martins, pounding and stomping their feet, whilst semi-naked, reliving their youth. Music should not be censored; don't like it, don't go.
