I must say, I really like that Reuters site, well posted.
How ironic that the people that have supplied news to publications for years have a better website than their "customers".
Over on t`other board somebody pointed out that bootleg vinyl is flooding sales as well.
This is true, I have seen evidence of this.
This should not be ignored either.
It does not take very long to turn a bootleg vinyl record, or cassette into a free sharing and illegal file. |

Is it a clever idea or the start of policing the internet that so many on this forum are concenrned about? Or does that not apply to the music industry? I'm confused. |

Interesting question - if they activate this, can we, as a legitimate production company offering a terrific movie for free download, sue the providers for limiting our totally legal service?
If you are offering downloads of large files (movies) it might be worth letting your provider know.
Here's a report from Reuters, which is pretty general.

Now, I don`t think you will be able to for a while, unless the work goes via one of the bigger companies like ITunes etc.
The implementation of this, should it go through, I believe will hit the indies where it hurts first as usual.
The "powers that be", in the unlikely act that they can get their act together over this issue are almost guaranteed to ask the old guard first for their tuppence worth who will of course look after their own interests first. |

I think education of the ears is the way forward on this.
A 320 kbs MP3 sounds nothing like a CD or a record and many of the downloads are a lot lower in bit rate than that I am sure.
Difficult to employ when the kids seem to like tinny speakers.
I`m just listening to this story on various news channels and I am getting the feeling that many of us who have been going on about this problem for years are being quoted, one guy , on Sky just then, seemed to read out thatI am pretty sure one of us wrote about a year back. |
