Jill Sobule is probably more important than we think on that link, currently. Anyone checking the other link, tipped from R2, may spot, it may be time for a decent few country hits to come along.
The popularity of "new country", as the wonderful late Roger Scott introduced in, way, way back ,to the UK,has never really dated.
Simply played, perfect songs.
Interesting also, is that it seems as a genre to be more pinned down by the Americans for free viewing.
I searched for my favourite example from 1988 by Randy Travis called "Promises" and got a message saying, "this video is not available in your country". Well thats` a first!

Excellent feature on Cathy in Guardian this morning Friday though apart from Kylie's classic and the current hit her songs ring very few bells.
Still, she is the closest we have to Diane Warren (whose output has been thin lately, hasn't it?).

In the Telegraph this morning (it's a fine thing when the bloody Telegraph tells me something I didn't know about music).
So she has the No1 in both UK and US.
Well done Cathy, a very talented lady.
Now - I Kissed A Girl (which I've done many times contrary to rumour) - wasn't that a great lesbian smash by Jill Sobule years ago, or am I going senile?
Was it the same song? I loved the Sobule hit; not so keen about Kate's.
