It is clearly good for TV but is it good 4 music? |

There you go really. Nobody in the thread liked it much but most watched it.
All these channels to watch and we all watched the same show. (maybe except KZ who got away with it, but hey, it`s 5 o clock somewhere!)
(jeez do I ever stop street teaming??lol) |

Yes KZ, I agree. Any exposure for any music is a good thing.
But after numerous crash'n'burns from winners of reality TV music shows, it is time we learned lessons about how to assist those often talented but wrecked people to survive and grow. |

Horses for courses guys and let's not knock the schooling of artists. It is indeed a misnomer to say that the best talent weren't schooled. They were but in different ways.
Pick any black/r&b/reggae/soul/jazz singer and they had one important school: Church choir.
I have no problem with X-Factor, Idol or any other piss poor tv talent show. Do I moan about them ? Yes but I will watch it with the kids. It's good entertainment like Neighbours. Is it music ? Of course it is music. Might not be groundbreaking but why does it have to be ?
The problem with singer/songwriters and bands is that they are NOT the Beatles and their songs are crap. But hey they can do what they want. If it makes them happy, then it's cool with me. I just won't listen to it. But don't look down your nose on X-Factor singers, especially if they can sing. |
