Oh we can all have "pretend" hits - chart positions, decent sales etc - but what the Jonas Brothers need is a Bleeding Love - a real global cross over smash.

They are few and far between.

Aren't you jumping the gun a little bit? Jonas Brothers are only now really being pushed outside the States where thanks to Disney TV and Radio they've become omnipresent.

They're heavily featured on three albums in the top 20 year-to-dates (the just released new album, last years and the Camp Rock soundtrack) as well as posting impressive single sales.

I hadn't got around to commenting on the ytd's but Hollywood Records are having a great year with Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.

I think it's also often underestimated how much work people like the Jonas Brothers have to put in across America - there can't have been much time for international promotion. Yet.

On Leona - she's released two singles one of which was one of those rare global smashes and the other a strongly performing album-seller which went top 10 worldwide and is still rising in the American charts having been released later there. Be interesting to see how the soon to be released third single Forgive Me does.

I think it's very rare to double up global smashes - there's just not enough of them out there.
JK2006 And voila, with the magic of the internet (I always said there were two great pluses - communication and information)... Steve Greenberg tells me...

He put the band together, produced the first album for Columbia, left the label whereupon "some idiot" dropped them and Disney picked them up... Steve remains close to the band and his current act is Little Jackie.
JK2006 I must get Stevie G to tell me why the Jonases didn't work out for him when he was running Columbia.
GG (producer) I'll tell you what's few and far between JK, publishing A&R that don't have their heads up thier asses.

At the high end they should be able to find the hits. They are out there. Insane politics exists in the major league of publishing, you know that.

Look at Kylie's last album!....and they tried to break those songs in the States? Are you kidding me?

She needed "Spinning around" level worldwide smash hits, and didn't get them. They are out there for her and EMI pub knows it. Not even going to go into the politics at Parlophone through publishing for an act like K.

If they can't do better for an act that can sell out O2 7 nights or more they ought to give up. Thats just another example of what this thread is about.

...and All the power to Cowell for his television coup, however he is no genius.
