PBS Maybe there's a song in there, Mart.
Mart I have no problem with Madonna, but here is a little story for you.

I took a short cut home one day and stopped for a pub lunch, in the same village where the lady herself lives.(I did not know this at the time but know it now)

A lookalike of her was serving behind the bar. I kid you not, clothing, accent, the whole kaboodle, pics of Madge all over the wall etc when she had visited the pub in the paper pinned up on the walls.

What can one say? It was almost a Madonna Disneyland down a country lane. (except very tiny, weird experiance)
JC I don't think this is even a good story.

How many people actually care either way?

My local paper ran a report of a young boy who lost his legs due to meningitis, but may soon be able to walk again with the aid of modern technology. That is what I call a good story.

I hate, hate, hate this mean spirited joy at the misfortune of others (see Melanie McDonagh in the Times as a prime example - "... will cheer up a great many people".)

Not one iota in my soul rejoices at a relationship breaking up.

How sour, bitter and nasty can we get?

The answer, of course, is once again the meeeeejah - IT'S A GOOD STORY!

Much as I dislike Madonna, I have to agree. I can't see the "cheer" in this at all. They have kids, don't they?
JK2006 I call it meeeeeejah, Walter, because press implies no TV or radio or internet, all equal partners in this Satanic conspiracy we weave on behalf of Lucifer.
