I'll say it again, and I've said it to many people over there. Billboard lost its editorial integrity when Tim White died. They are in the business of kissing the asses of the labels/executives that keep them alive. You couldn't get an accurate review/tip from them as they no longer have the courage to upset/enrage those same labels/executives.
At least here you get the truth, and I would say that to every record business insider that reads this forum often if not daily (most of whom I would presume do not post), its worth a hell of a lot more than a thousand pounds. |

this seems to miss the point - the tipsheet has never been for profit, has it? I subscribed in the 90s and have cherished it in various forms and didnt think it was ever intended to be profitable but always a kind of hobby for JK.
indeed the problem with the mags like billboard and even other music sites is that they are primarily there to make money and so do not dare criticise the execs which the tipsheet has consistently done. |

I personally think they over value it whilst they clearly get the views totally wrong. Remember, we see the figures here every minute.
And I'd love to know where the imaginary daily $1.98 Ad revenue goes to - since we don't and never have taken ads!
These sites are a load of made up bollocks.
Worth? In this day and age I'd say almost any music publication is worth nothing at all on its own.
And it has been so since 2000. |
