paulo i quite agree as i said before people watching the contest want to be entertained, usually by a good song well performed
israel is a very good example this, the latvian song was not a particularly good song in my opinion (it is after all a very subjective area) but it did entertain and consequently it received a lot of votes
as for armenia and turkey they have done consistently well recently, is that due to entertainment value or quality or another factor , i don't know
russia's recent record is also very impressive, a win and a second and third, it will be interesting to see how well russia will do in the next few years

the guys from latvia did rather well, around 6th place, which for the uk (or any country for that matter) would be a tremendous result
i don't think there is an anti uk vote, people watching the contest are not that politically motivated, they just want to be entertained

Paulo, the fact that friendless Israel have managed to get two very respectable top ten places in the last 4 contests tells you that if a song is good enough, it can reach the top ten regardless of the country. It's too easy to say it is political why UK do so badly. (Granted that anything representing Armenia or Turkey will always reach the top ten).

Andy H Hi Paulo;

Assuming there is an anti UK block vote ( I have not said that there is, myself), I do feel it is rather courted by proclaiming it`s "My (Our) Time".

That title is asking for it as much as the guys that sang "We are the Winners" a couple of years back.

AH
paulo the power and influence of not just wogan but the rest of the media in blaming block voting is rather scary, nearly everybody i speak to including esc fans believe the reason we fail is due to block voting
i suppose it is so easy to place blame elsewhere than to accept that we are not good enough
the media are offering an excuse, an easy way out and we "happily...?" take it
