david yay!

it's a great album.
zooloo Thanks for that... they just sold a CD
JK2006 Either my ears are going strange or many vocalists (including this lady) are singing slightly off key.
Tipster G Fantastic band!

Been around for 3 years or so now. With quite a large lineup playing a myriad of instruments from thumb piano to 'drilling machines', jew's harp and beyond, their influences lie in folk, country, blues, jazz and cabaret.

Their debut album, Gee Whiz But This is a Lonesome Town, sold 70,000 copies and was certified Gold in France!

Catch them at SXSW...
david went to see Jane Birkin at the Barbican and the support band blew me away- I don't think I've often seen a support band get a standing ovation in a seated venue.

Anyway, they are a French-American band called Moriarty- full of energy and joie-de-vivre. They are basically rather bluesy but with lots of fun and unexpected twists.

Here are 2 clips:

* a bizarre Depeche Mode cover version (she is holding a deer's head in her arms)

* a more traditional blues type thing but nice and quirky.

any opinions?
