I also am not a fan of Red Nose Day, but i found myself watching the Kilmanjiro programme on BBC1 last night. I thoughly enjoyed it. Seeing a group of people - regardless of the fact that they were "celebraties" collectively supporting each other as well as the non-celeb support team, was amazing.
They all made it to the top. Forget the charity angle - that was quite an achievment! |

Why has nobody in the press been outraged at Gary Barlow shelling out 50 grand to charter a private jet back to Blighty from the Kilimanjaro climb??? Wouldn't the cash have been better spent on the charity? Coincidentally, Take That, Ronan Keating and Girls Aloud have new singles out. Mmmmmmmmm..... |

It is a good cause, but I don't like most of the evening's entertainment. I agree with most of the other posts on other aspects of it. We have Children in Need annually,Comic Relief and Sport Relief (every two years), my idea would be just one charity event a year. Fortunately their is always the off button on the TV and lots of other channels to pick.
On Oasis, I don't know them personally and not sure why they are appearing on Comic Relief (they are strong advocates against these events I thought). However, it would not be down to poor record sales, as their new album sold 200,000 in it's first week and actually did well in USA reaching No 5 on the Billboard Chart. The singles they've released is another matter though, but then no-one buys any artists anymore. Most of their concerts are sold-out as well. |

Yesterday I was out shopping and then when I saw the bloody red noses for sale, I realised it's Comic Relief this Friday so bought extra shopping to ensure I don't have to leave my home on Friday so I can avoid all the idiotic activities and having cans of money shaken under my nose.
Given the current economic situation, it is disgusting they're pushing through with it right now since I don't think many of us are exactly in a position to "give" anything to charity, least of all a time wasting one that encourages people to act like dickheads for the day to send money to Africa where it vanishes into a black hole and they continue to breed like rabbits.
