Our sports are dominated by foreigners. Look at the English Premiership, chock a block with em. Then theres that South African playing Cricket for England. Think Empire of The Sun spent a week in the top 40 here. Its the radio stations, they are all one big conglomerate as well. Some are probably owned by the companies that own the labels. |

The situation here is dire, really dire. Empire of The Sun is good but the charts are so dominated by American acts it seems like we are just another annexe of the US.
Pop is truly dead here with our biggest pop acts Gabriela Cilmi, Kylie etc are basically British in all but nationality. The industry has sold Australians out in a way no other industry here would tolerate.
Imagine sports dominated by foreigners. There would be an outcry. |

Any good new Aussie acts out there? As the music industry is now down to a few large corporations this is to be expected in the major markets and is exactly the thing George Michael predicted in his court battle with Sony. In the past Aus has produced some great acts (Icehouse, The Sports,The Skyhooks,Ac/Dc, Hunters and Collectors, and the mighty Midnight Oil) but what is there now and why is it not selling in Australia? Any good links to whats hot down under Peeved? |

Having a look at the Australian singles and radio chart and all I see are foreign acts dominating the scene. For a nation that prides itself on its own identity and abilities the Australian music industry is a total sell out and is in the pocket of the majors. This is worse than any other major western nation I have seen. Even France have more French acts in its charts. For an Australian act to make it they have to go overseas, bring in foreign songwriters and producers. This is a joke. |
